Latvia registered 5 960 passenger cars in September 2025: 2 088 new cars (35.0% of the total) and 3 872 used imports. That is up 1.8% on August 2025 and up 18.2% on September 2024. Year to date the market stands at 49 228 registrations, up 12.7% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 62.2% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets.

BMW led the brand ranking with 836 registrations and a 14.0% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (651) and AUDI (568). Together the top three brands took 34.5% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, PEUGEOT grew fastest year on year (+59.9%) while VOLVO fell furthest (โˆ’28.9%). The best-selling model was the BMW 3 SERIES with 268 registrations, followed by the PEUGEOT 2008 (163) and the BMW 5 SERIES (152). The 3 SERIES arrived mainly as a used import: 268 used against 0 new.

Battery-electric cars took 8.5% of all registrations, compared with 6.2% in September 2024. Plug-in hybrids took 7.2%, diesel 44.8% and petrol 38.5%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 102 battery-electric registrations, ahead of AUDI (50). The best-selling battery-electric model was the AUDI E-TRON with 41 registrations, ahead of the TESLA MODEL 3 (39). Used imports were on average 11.8 years old when they were registered.

September 2025 was the 2nd-highest of the 26 months on this page, which average 5 070 registrations a month; the peak was July 2025 with 6 412 and the low January 2024 with 3 738.
