Latvia registered 4 807 passenger cars in December 2025: 1 439 new cars (29.9% of the total) and 3 368 used imports. That is down 4.9% on November 2025 and up 13.9% on December 2024. Year to date the market stands at 64 893 registrations, up 12.1% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 65.9% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets.

BMW led the brand ranking with 776 registrations and a 16.1% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (637) and AUDI (507). Together the top three brands took 39.9% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, RENAULT grew fastest year on year (+71.1%) while TOYOTA fell furthest (โˆ’23.6%). The best-selling model was the BMW 3 SERIES with 260 registrations, followed by the BMW 5 SERIES (169) and the VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN (141). The 3 SERIES arrived mainly as a used import: 258 used against 2 new.

Battery-electric cars took 7.1% of all registrations, compared with 5.9% in December 2024. Plug-in hybrids took 6.3%, diesel 50.4% and petrol 34.7%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 72 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (47). The best-selling battery-electric model was the AUDI E-TRON with 28 registrations, ahead of the TESLA MODEL Y (26). Used imports were on average 12.2 years old when they were registered.

December 2025 was the 22nd-highest of the 29 months on this page, which average 5 086 registrations a month; the peak was July 2025 with 6 412 and the low January 2024 with 3 738.
