Latvia registered 6 032 passenger cars in March 2026: 2 040 new cars (33.8% of the total) and 3 992 used imports. That is up 48.9% on February 2026 and up 9.0% on March 2025. Year to date the market stands at 14 103 registrations, up 3.5% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 59.3% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets.

BMW led the brand ranking with 827 registrations and a 13.7% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (654) and TOYOTA (604). Together the top three brands took 34.6% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, MERCEDES-BENZ grew fastest year on year (+28.3%) while OPEL fell furthest (โˆ’4.8%). The best-selling model was the BMW 3 SERIES with 246 registrations, followed by the TOYOTA YARIS CROSS (204) and the BMW 5 SERIES (153). The 3 SERIES arrived mainly as a used import: 244 used against 2 new.

Battery-electric cars took 7.2% of all registrations, compared with 7.7% in March 2025. Plug-in hybrids took 6.0%, diesel 44.5% and petrol 40.6%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 85 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (45). The best-selling battery-electric model was the AUDI E-TRON with 31 registrations, ahead of the TESLA MODEL S (28). Used imports were on average 11.9 years old when they were registered.

March 2026 was the 2nd-highest of the 32 months on this page, which average 5 050 registrations a month; the peak was July 2025 with 6 412 and the low January 2024 with 3 738.
