Ireland registered 8 727 passenger cars in June 2024: 3 499 new cars (40.1% of the total) and 5 228 used imports. That is down 44.2% on May 2024 and down 9.9% on June 2023. Year to date the market stands at 106 812 registrations, up 9.4% on the same period of last year.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 1 569 registrations and a 18.0% share, ahead of AUDI (808) and TOYOTA (783). Together the top three brands took 36.2% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, AUDI grew fastest year on year (+26.4%) while TESLA fell furthest (โˆ’48.2%). The best-selling model was the TESLA MODEL 3 with 249 registrations, followed by the TESLA MODEL Y (179) and the RENAULT CLIO (114).

Battery-electric cars took 11.7% of all registrations. Among new cars alone the electric share was 25.3%. Plug-in hybrids took 10.7%, other hybrids 13.3%, diesel 24.2% and petrol 40.1%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 428 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (89). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL 3 with 249 registrations, ahead of the TESLA MODEL Y (179).

June 2024 was the 8th-highest of the 10 months on this page, which average 13 866 registrations a month; the peak was January 2024 with 25 461 and the low December 2023 with 4 875.
