Ireland registered 20 305 passenger cars in March 2025: 14 388 new cars (70.9% of the total) and 5 917 used imports. That is up 2.3% on February 2025 and up 0.5% on March 2024. Year to date the market stands at 67 464 registrations, up 4.4% on the same period of last year.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 2 756 registrations and a 13.6% share, ahead of TOYOTA (2 526) and SKODA (1 531). Together the top three brands took 33.6% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, PEUGEOT grew fastest year on year (+44.7%) while SKODA fell furthest (โˆ’25.9%). The best-selling model was the HYUNDAI TUCSON with 569 registrations, followed by the TOYOTA RAV4 (498) and the SKODA OCTAVIA (435).

Battery-electric cars took 13.2% of all registrations, compared with 10.0% in March 2024. Among new cars alone the electric share was 17.2%. Plug-in hybrids took 15.1%, other hybrids 19.5%, diesel 20.4% and petrol 31.8%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 334 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (334). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL 3 with 231 registrations, ahead of the VOLKSWAGEN ID.4 (205).

March 2025 was the 4th-highest of the 19 months on this page, which average 14 623 registrations a month; the peak was January 2025 with 27 311 and the low December 2024 with 4 750.
