Ireland registered 26 563 passenger cars in July 2025: 19 923 new cars (75.0% of the total) and 6 640 used imports. That is up 148.1% on June 2025 and up 9.9% on July 2024. Year to date the market stands at 137 851 registrations, up 5.2% on the same period of last year.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 3 708 registrations and a 14.0% share, ahead of TOYOTA (3 510) and HYUNDAI (2 244). Together the top three brands took 35.6% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, SKODA grew fastest year on year (+29.6%) while FORD fell furthest (โˆ’5.3%). The best-selling model was the TOYOTA YARIS CROSS with 651 registrations, followed by the HYUNDAI TUCSON (626) and the SKODA OCTAVIA (617).

Battery-electric cars took 16.5% of all registrations, compared with 10.6% in July 2024. Among new cars alone the electric share was 19.9%. Plug-in hybrids took 15.1%, other hybrids 20.6%, diesel 18.3% and petrol 29.5%. The leading electric brand was HYUNDAI with 673 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (533). The best-selling battery-electric model was the VOLKSWAGEN ID.4 with 343 registrations, ahead of the HYUNDAI INSTER (325).

July 2025 was the 2nd-highest of the 23 months on this page, which average 15 140 registrations a month; the peak was January 2025 with 27 311 and the low December 2024 with 4 750.
