Ireland registered 12 837 passenger cars in June 2026: 5 123 new cars (39.9% of the total) and 7 714 used imports. That is down 30.9% on May 2026 and up 19.9% on June 2025. Year to date the market stands at 126 739 registrations, up 13.9% on the same period of last year.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 2 327 registrations and a 18.1% share, ahead of TOYOTA (1 711) and BMW (1 126). Together the top three brands took 40.2% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, TOYOTA grew fastest year on year (+86.8%) while HYUNDAI fell furthest (โˆ’32.0%). The best-selling model was the TESLA MODEL 3 with 429 registrations, followed by the TESLA MODEL Y (208) and the VOLKSWAGEN GOLF (179).

Battery-electric cars took 19.8% of all registrations, compared with 13.8% in June 2025. Among new cars alone the electric share was 30.0%. Plug-in hybrids took 13.8%, other hybrids 18.4%, diesel 16.3% and petrol 31.7%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 637 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (167). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL 3 with 429 registrations, ahead of the TESLA MODEL Y (208).

June 2026 was the 21st-highest of the 34 months on this page, which average 15 574 registrations a month; the peak was January 2026 with 31 259 and the low December 2024 with 4 750.
