The Netherlands registered 58 813 passenger cars in June 2024: 34 955 new cars (59.4% of the total) and 23 858 used imports. That is up 13.2% on May 2024 and down 6.2% on June 2023. Year to date the market stands at 331 123 registrations, up 3.3% on the same period of last year.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 5 592 registrations and a 9.5% share, ahead of TOYOTA (4 371) and VOLVO (4 171). Together the top three brands took 24.0% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, VOLVO grew fastest year on year (+98.1%) while VOLKSWAGEN fell furthest (โˆ’28.0%). The best-selling model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 1 790 registrations, followed by the TESLA MODEL 3 (1 688) and the KIA NIRO (1 283).

Battery-electric cars took 21.5% of all registrations. Among new cars alone the electric share was 32.8%. Plug-in hybrids took 18.1%, other hybrids 22.8%, diesel 3.0% and petrol 34.4%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 3 533 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLVO (1 777). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 1 790 registrations, ahead of the TESLA MODEL 3 (1 688). New cars averaged 75.9 g/km of COโ‚‚ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 5.8 years old when they were registered.

June 2024 was the 2nd-highest of the 10 months on this page, which average 52 367 registrations a month; the peak was March 2024 with 61 125 and the low December 2023 with 45 733.

Counts are cars first registered in the Netherlands in the month, measured on the RDW register snapshot taken a few days after the month ended and frozen there, so a month never changes once published. Cars exported later stay in the register for two years and only scrapped cars vanish: measured against CBS, a 36-month window loses at most 1.4 % (2025 100.6 %, 2024 99.6 %, 2023 98.6 %, 2022 97.6 % of the official new-car counts). Percentages are shown only when the comparison month has at least 30 registrations.
