Brand strength by country
Market share of the 30 largest brands in Lithuania, Germany, Estonia, Latvia, Finland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Spain, Poland, Ireland, Czechia, Romania, Luxembourg, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, France, Italy, Portugal, Greece and Slovenia, each market's latest twelve months
A car brand is rarely equally strong everywhere. Home markets, a factory nearby, the company-car tax rules of one country or the used-car trade between two others all leave a brand far above its usual share in one place and nearly absent in the next. The table shows where: each row is a brand, each column a market, each cell the brand's share of that market over the last twelve months. The colour runs along the row, from the brand's weakest market to its strongest, so a dark cell means "this is where the brand does best" and says nothing about another brand in the same column. A cell opens the brand's page in that market, a brand name its page across all markets, and every column can be sorted.
What stands out
Volkswagen is strongest in Germany (18.4%), BMW is strongest in Latvia (13.9%) and Skoda is strongest in Czechia (31.2%). The highest share any of the thirty brands reaches anywhere is Skoda's 31.2% in Czechia. The most lopsided case is Fiat in Italy: 10.7% there, 9.9 times the brand's median share across the markets that list it.
